December 16, 2003 What to say? Happy Holidays? December 13 was the last RailLiners gig at Zeno's until I-don't-know-when. Hopefully this will become resolved again soon. I know everyone enjoys themselves while we are playing there. It's the best place in State College to hear live music and have a great time. Perhaps another venue will open up, but for now... keep watching here, or sign up for the RailLiners email list by sending an email to railliners@yahoo.com. Had a great time playing with Kris and Bill on the 8th. All is going well and more and more dates are being added over at KrisKehr.com. Dawn's debut CD was reviewed in the latest issue of Paste Magazine and a track was also featured on the included sampler CD. It's very exciting to be part of something that is getting national press. I sure felt great picking up the magazine at a store in town. You can pick up your own copy at just about any decent news seller. Looks like we're headed out again in January for a bit to continue to promote Dawn and the CD. Check out her site for updates. After a meltdown of Mason's multi-track we going to begin working on demos again on a different machine. We're anxious to start working on the next album. Matt and Nigel from veinmelter invited me yet again to Zeno's for a show on the 20th. And... on New Year's Eve at the Tokyo Ballroom in Philadelphia. You can get more information on the New Year's All-Star gig at veinmelter.com. "Rollin'" will eventually be here. Post-production of the Basement Jams did begin, there's a snippet on the audio page. I've also added some new goodies there, be sure to hear Sri! All for tonight, may you all have a wonderful holiday and a prosperous New Year. See you in Philadelphia! October 17, 2003 Some new dates have been added. I've also added some new recommendations. Hopefully some new photos and audio clips will arrive shortly. The RailLiners have their very own listing now on Jambase.com, click here and bookmark it. That should suffice until a website is launched.
I'm headed out on tour with Dawn in November, dates are coming in slowly. Keep checking her site or mine for updates. Dawn's new demos are pouring out like crazy. Mason and I got daring and started adding some really exciting Mellotron. Updates are starting to come this way for KrisKehr.com. Exciting things are happening, be sure to stroll on by and say hello to Kris. In old, old band news. In the next few weeks the entirety of the only Busload of Faith album "rollin'" will be available here for download. I had thought about re-mixing it, but why mess around. I had the digital master and I'm preparing it for an HQ download. I'm sure some old fans of the cassette will enjoy it. I've been pouring over some old veinmelter shows. I'm planning on adding a few selected 'classic' tracks too. Last time I talked to Nigel, plans are in process to record an album. Terry Owen and I will play on it. Post-production of the Basement Jams will begin soon. And finally... congratulations to great friend Sean Ryan for his success as the first ever six time Jeopardy champion. September 26, 2003 I've been adding some stuff here and there. The Kris Kehr and veinmelter gigs were a blast. The RailLiners return this Saturday with an opening act. We should be on at the regular 10:30 slot, but you never know what kind of craziness Dave Mudgett might dream up at the last minute. It's the Minnesota homegame weekend. It should be nuts.
Mason (of Dawn Kinnard fame) and I continue to work on demos for Dawn. The living room is becoming a virtual studio as all the stops are coming out. We're working out several of Dawn's songs into interesting and challenging arrangements. I'm having a blast. Went to Pittsburgh on Monday and realized I need to leave town more often. Went to see My Morning Jacket with Mason, Dawn, Britt and Josh. It was loud, but amazing. I never realized how much reverb could be used to it's own advantage. My 2004 Moleskine datebook arrived recently. If you haven't checked them out yet, do. They are a great little notebook or even a datebook. I highly recommend. Autumn is arriving. It's 46 F outside now and the leaves are starting to change. After the disappointing arrival of Izzy (and yet another basement flooding) I'm looking forward to winter. Heating oil might be expensive this year, but it will at least dry out the house. Hannah Bingman's CD comes out soon. Bob Klotz and I had fun playing on the album and we're both happy with the final product. I'm waiting to see it in cellophane. Todd Bartolo of Frog Holler has a new album out and his side project's CD should be out soon. I'll keep you posted. In other news... I should be excited that Krispy Kreme is finally arriving in State College. However an entire mobile home park is being evicted to make way. I've heard another KFC is moving in too. While it isn't the greatest trailer park ever, many people are going to have to find new homes during some hard times. Enough local politics for now. Good morning and God bless. September 13, 2003 Schedule page update. Kris Kehr will be performing with Stone Poets at Zeno's on Monday the 15th. Showtime 10:30 pm. Bill Stetz, Dave Mudgett, Jack Wilkinson and myself will be joining Kris this time round. Should be a great evening out. veinmelter returns to State College again on the 20th of the month. Terry Owen and myself will be joining the boys again. Bring your dancing shoes. I played with Dawn Kinnard live for the first time this past Thursday for her CD release party. It was a great time. Be sure to grab her CD it's been getting some great reviews. Everyone is really happy for her. Now about that radio. I was made in 1948 and I'm cleaning off years of dirt right now. It's gonna look fabulous in the living room when I'm done with it. August 07, 2003 Early this morning. Just updated schedule page. Trying to stay on top of things. I found an old RCA Victor console radio/turntable in someone's garbage. It's still in the truck, but it's quite beautiful. I could use a refinish and probably some work. I don't know where I'm going to put it though. Not only am I obsessive about Hammond Organs and all keyboards older than me, but I'm also a radio geek. I hope good old fashioned analog radio broadcasts don't go digital someday too. I love my radios, I just wish there were more good channels. I hear that Neil Young has quite a bit to say about Clear Channel on his upcoming album. For the meantime you should check out www.clearchannelsucks.com to learn more about the decline of true local radio in this country. Looks like I'll be playing on the yet to be released Recipe studio album. I had an opportunity to shoot for a track on the live release coming out soon, but was too tired and sick to make it to the gig. Kris Kehr was in town last week. Look out for a possible Stone Poets reunion show in this fall at Zeno's. What's with reunion shows all of a sudden? What's next Busload of Faith... hahaha. If you want to send me things (I love surprise gifts) check out my wish list on Amazon.com.
I guess that's all for this morning. Perhaps I'll become inspired in the next few days and finish up the gear pages and add some more mp3s. However it takes me a long time to upload those big files. I do have some waiting in the queue. July 26, 2003 Well. I got sick of earthlink and wanted more. Welcome to JamesHarton.com. Adjust your bookmarks. I now have tons of play space. Expect all kinds of junk. I finally found a webserver that makes me happy. Kudos to Julian at SpamCop.net for the link to WebMasters.com. As of right now, the photos and audio pages are up and running. There have even been some updates to the gear pages. There are many photos from my trip to Italy last year finally available for viewing. Photos from Thanksgiving and many more are available for your viewing pleasure. I spent this past week sitting in front of a computer and really enjoying some much needed vacation time. However, on the 19th my old bandmates from veinmelter were in town and we had a reunion show at Zeno's. Terry Owen took on the sax duties since J. George is in Colorado now. The guys are back together in Philadelphia now with a new drummer. There's a live CD out. The show was a great time and Zeno's was really hoppin'. Depending on how the board mix sounds and if Nigel ever gives me a copy of the MD, there might be some tracks up for listening. Dawn's new CD should be out soon. The Hannah project is finished and mastered, more info to come. July 04, 2003 I'm starting to get really bad at this thing. But after a long time of the site not working, here it is again. Happy Independence Day. Lotta stuff going on. Come on out and see The Devolvers every Thursday at The Phyrst and The RailLiners just about every Saturday at Zeno's. If we aren't there, stay anyway. Zeno's always has great live music. As time and memory permits. This page should become more blog-like in the coming months. Archives: |
